Changing a Student's Password to the Online Testing Portal in Illuminate

If you're having students test online using the Illuminate Student Portal and the student is having trouble logging in, you may need to change the student's password. First off, make sure that the student is entering in the correct username, this will be the students UIC, or state ID number, which can be found in the Illuminate roster; it will be the ID column to the left of the name.

If the username is correct, but it's still not letting the student log in, the next step would be to change the password. There are two ways to do this: the first way would be through the student search function, either through the search bar at the top of the website, or through the Students tab in the toolbar. The second way would be from the online test roster.

Changing Through the Student Search

Type the student's name into the search bar. Once you choose the student whose password you would like to change, it will take you to the Student Demographics page. At the bottom of the General Information section, you'll find the Portal Password section with a link to Change the password next to it.

Clicking on this will take you to another window that asks for the new password, put in the new, temporary password, and have the student try logging in again.

Changing Through the Online Roster

If you're in the assessment, and have rostered students to the online assessment, you can click on the number under the Students column to get to the list of students who have been rostered for the assessment. Find the student who's password you wish to change, and click on the Actions button over on the right hand side of the row and choose Reset Password from the dropdown menu. This will take you to the same screen for entering the new, temporary password that the first method does. At this point, again, have the student retry to enter his or her password.
